DESIRE AN AGREEMENT WITH. EMPLOYERS. • •By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunetlin, September 6. 1 The Dunedin tramways award expires on October 6. The union has cancelled its-registration, declaring it has .no faith in the Arbitration Court as at present constituted, and will ask-em-ployers to come to an agreement embodying the principle that a man shall be able to earn a fair wage in a 48 hours' weok, and not he compelled to work overtime to' make a living. Th'n demands will include those for improved headlights and the cessation of employment of 'inexperienced hands as conductors. It is considered possible that the Minister of Works may intervene. As to the insufficiency of headlights, the workers have the full backing, of the Tramways federation and Transport Advisory Board, and' it is understood what is claimed in Dunedin will be claimed in other-centres as the •awards expire.
