Captain Cromie was in command of a, submarine in the Baltic in 1915, and' destroyed the German cruiser Undine (November 7) and other vessels, and was also responsible for the destruction of the British submarine flotilla in the Baltic when the Germans got possession of the Russiaibfleet.—Aus.N.Z. The newspaper "Isvestia" states.that the Ukrainian revolutionaries have taken Nijnjnovgorod and other cities, and'also the town of Tschernoff, where they killed the whole German garrison of fifteen hundred, but retired when German reinforcements arrived. Sanguinary fighting has occurred in the provinces of Poltava, Tschernoff, and Kieff, where the revolutionaries, number thirty thousand. The ' Ukrainian authorities in many places have iltd.
