BRITISH LIBERAL "PLANKS"
MR. LLOYD GEORGE'S ELECTION PROGRAMME
WIN THE WAR FIRST
(Rcc. September '6, 7.25 p.m.) London, September 5. . There is a belief in political circles thati Mr. Lloydi George's election programme will be so completely confined to winning, the,war that it : will virtually disregard other issues. It is significant that the Liberal programme prepared, at the Liberal Federation meeting on August 26 makes winning the war tho first plank. It also declares for Free Trade, but affirms that there are special cases where measures must be taken to safeguard.home production, in, the interest of national security, and that profits arising there.from should belong to the* State, nnd not to individuals. The , programme also proposes the abolition of: the House of Lords, the equalising of the position of women in tho-professions, nnd supports the principle of the minimum wage affording a proper standard of comfort as a first charge on every branch of industry and trade.— Aus.-N.Z.
