POLICE OASES. Before Mr. F. V. Frazer. ir the S.M. Court yesterday, Ernest Henry M'Kny was remandec until September 11 on a charge of having committed bigamy at Christclnircl on September 1. For insobriety, Norman Bell, a sol dier, was fined 10s., in default 48 hours imprisonment,- and John M'Kimion y.a; ordered to bo prohibited and sentence* to soven days' imprisonment. Mary Sprowell was also charged witl drunkenness, but denied the accusation stating that the trouble in her case wai that she took fits-and had the appearance of being drunk. When she had i fit she sometimes took a "drop o: drink." The constable who arrestee the accused said she was staggering and smelt of liquor. She had beer ejected from a picture show, and ci< not appear to have had a fit. "It wai a fit all right," remarked the accused "Well," I havo not seen a fit lib that,"' remarked Mr.- Frazer amid* laughter. Senior-Sergeant Willis saif it would- ho a charity to send the ac cused up the hill for a time. His Wor ship agreed, imposed a sentence of 1days' imprisonment, and issued a pro hibition order against the accused.
