The following was officially reported to tho City Council last evening:—"Re tho planting at Herald Street Steps, the work of which has only been completed about threo weeks, 1 would like to draw your attention to tho fact that fully half the trees have been uprooted and strewn about. I had them replanted, but was informed to-day by a resident of that locality that they havo been uprooted the second time. I would recommend that notices bo placed at all steps where planting is carried out." Councillor L. Jl'Kenzie said that as showing tho vandalism which was going on in the city he would mention that someone had even interfered with one of the corporation horses. If the culprit was caught he should bo made au example of.
