APPEALS HEARD YESTERDAY
The Second Wellington Military Service Board continued its city sessions yesterday.' Mr.sJ. W. Poyntou, S.M., js chairman of tho board, and tho other members are Messrs, T. A. Bamber aixl F, Curtice.
'Thomas Samuel Lister, Wellington, produced a certificate to tho ofteet thai lie was nearly forty-six years old, ant he was declared to bo over n'ce.
An appeal "was made for Cuthbert Chambers, assistant manager, Vacuum Oil Company. One of tho arguments advanced was the. importance di oil to tba country. The ease was adjourned till January. f . Edward J. Latham, labourer, was given leave till March.
■ A sine die adjournment was made in tho case of J, F. King, a blacksmith, whom the Wellington Gas Company said was essential, and could not bo replaced. The case may be reviewed lu January. ■ • It is to be recommended that Edward W. Capper, insurance clerk, Kilbirnie, who said that ho was one of the -Brethren, bo given no'ii-combatant work. _ James S. O'Brien, asphalter, was given leavo till .February to enablo him to complete contracts at school grounds, Frederick H. Carder, sub-accountant, appealed on account' of the illness of his 'wife. 'Ho said that his tlireo brothers and his wife's brothers were in the Imperial Anny. The case wa« adjourned sine die. Soldiers from the War. Furlough is to bo recommended for Private S. A. Curtis, a soldier who has seen four years' con/tinuous service. The application for furlough was made for family reasons. '
Ninety days' leave is to be recommended for Private H. J. Lawyer, returned soldier, Trentham, who had done three years' service.
It was decided to recommend that Private W. A. Ritchie, a returned' soldier, be again medically examined. Indefinite) leave was agreed to for Albert D, Bromell, returned soldier, who left' with the Main Body when nineteen years,old, had seen four years' service, and had been three times wounded. . His father and mother were invalids. Leave Till Future Drafts, Leave till • January was allowed Frank Flipp, butcher, Kilbirnie; Harold George King, carrier: John George Baillie, horse driver; William H. Cowley, carriage proprietor; William Thomas Dick, farmer, Wainui-o-mata; and A. W. J. Colgate, pork butcher.,. Loavo till November was given Gerald N. Gillies, storeman; and Arthur E. Logan, storeman. Lcayo till October was granted Arthur L. .Flyger, furnisher, and H. J. Kingsbeer, mechanic.
Leave till February was given Arthur Gollop, farm labourer, Paelcakariki. The appeal of George W. Waite, electrical engineer and temporary instructoi at tik'Technical School, was adjourned sine die. An adjournment till January was made in the case of M,. G. Garnham, ; metal merchant, who has n partner at the Ifront. •' 1 Tbß board will sit again to-day.
