TRADE UNION CONGRESS

London, September 4. At the Trade Union Congress a resolution was moved in favour of a universal reduction of the hours of labour in all industries to forty-eight weekly without a reduction of tho standard wages. An amendment, was moved in favour of forty-four hours weekly, and limiting overtime to a maximum cf thirty-six hours monthly. The resolution was carricd by 2,108,000 voles to 2,021,000. The congress adopted a resolution calling for tho war aims of the Labour and Socialist Parties of the Central Powers in answer to the inter-Allied Labour war aims. The resolution also urged the Government to start peace negotiations immediately the enemy voluntarily or under compulsion evacuated France and Belgium.—Router.
