Paraoa, waa a good favourite iu tho Hurd'cs, -with Undecided and Biomeborg next in demand. ■ The start- waa a poor .one. Ejornebo'rg and Janitor took up tho Tunning from Classification and Undeoidcd, with tho favourite-next. Down tho back ■ "Undecided and Paraoa moved" up to tho leaders, but Bjornoborg hold a> command- . in? lead. At the last fence, hovover, Paraoa flniahed very strongly, and got ud in timo to win by two lengths. Waioturo ■h'rs third, and Janitor and Undccided next. ' . . the start, Cotillion -was first to draw out, jbut Matatua aoon joined her, and followed by Moutoa Ivanova and Kipling they led into tho straight. At the distance Cotillion compounded, and Matatua went on and -won easily from Moutoa Ivanova, while .tftmvai waa third. Cotillion, CourtI field, and Tigritiya were next. 1 Gaelnvar and Tirau carricdj tho most ' money in the Hack Steeplechase.. Tirau made play for a. mile, with Foemiin, IvurJialpi, and lloutu next, and tho favourite •, leading tho others. Lady Renown fell at •' tho first fonce, and Juan fell in the second round. Two fences from homo Foeman took ohargo, and won easily from ,Gaok■"■•war and Tirau, with King's Park fourth. Fooman and Tirau were subsequently disoualifled for going inside a flag. Oaekwar ..was declared the winner, with King's l'arlt second, and Duurobin third. , Tho Marton-Handicap was regarded as, open, but tho Auckland horses, Colonel Soult and Kauri King, were in much de•jnand. Alter a lot of bother at the barrier tho field got off -well together. Passing tlio stand Orleans was showing tho •way to Ladify and Hastie. Down the back lAII Over took charge, and Detroit moved UP with Bio and Multaino. Detroit was firßt into tho straight, arid, lie won by •three lengths from Multaine, who beat Bio .by a head. Lady Louisa was fourth, and thou came'Hydrua and All Ovor. Kauri King and Colonel Soult both shaped badly. Gladful was a iln'n favourite: for the (Rangitikei tSteoplccliaae', and lie duly won, being a class above tho others. He jumped .slowly in the first, round, arid when warmed up ho was nearly down at tho second ienco.froni lioine, but he then had taco enough to go on and win easily. Marton led Arlington, Merry? Jack and Ormesby for tho first round, but Ormesby fell at the double, and, Arlington ran off at the same fenco in the next, round. Seven furlongs from home Merry Jack took clarge, but Gladful always had his measure, and won easily. Marton ivas in third 'place, and Nita and- Papatero finished a long .way back.
