SECOND WELLINGTON BOARD.

Over twenty cases were heard by the. Second Wellingt.oll Military Service .Board yesterday. ' Mr. J. AY. Poynton, S.M., is chairman of the board, and the other members are Messrs. T. A. Baumber and F. Curtice.

Application waß-made for the return from the front of Sapper Georgo "P. Farrell. The board made no recommendation. Leave till October was allowed Frederick S. Stillman, stationer's manager, Hataitai.. Adjournments'till October were made in appeals for Percy Johnson. metsA worker's assistant, and Henry George Shardlow, blacksmith, Petone. The men were appealed for by their employer, Mr. Cable, who said they were needed for ship-repairing operations, etc. A sine die .adjournment was made in the cose of Charles AY. llushbrook, warehouseman, Kelburn. James Edward Want, rubber stamp maker, was appealed for by his employer, but the case was dismissed, ana leave till January was allowed. The case of William It. Thompson, Twenty-third Reinforcements, was' referred to the First Wellington Board. The case of Private George D. Jury N.Z.M.V.S., Trentham, was referred to Otago, Indefinite leave is to be recommended for Rillemnn J. H. Thornton, Details, Trenthsim. The appellant had been.for over two years on active service, and had been wounded and gassed. He was now only twenty, and wished to complete an apprenticeship. David llnnkin, stereotyper, and Francisco Jlountjoy, wool storeman, were given leave till November 6. Leave till January was granted Norman W. Loveridge, tram conduf.tor; William Swenssen, cutter, Mitchelltown; Charles F. Pilcher, gardener, Lower Hutt; C. E. Femmel, grocer, Khawlallah; Herbert Linklater, solicitor, Kilbiriiie; Charles Duncan Sutton, farmer, Te Horo; Harold Thompson, farm manager, Pahiatua. A:i appeal by Fred K. Hill Porter, printer, Kilbirnie, was adjourned sine die. The board will sit to-day.
