TENNIS
The nineteenth annual report of the Brougham Hill Tennis Club states that tliß membership for the past season was 60. No .inter-club contests were held during the year. The club holds tho men's competition—senior; ladies' competition— sunior, junior, third class. The following were the winners of tho club's patriotic competition: Mrs. Turnbull and D. \V. France. Miss Hiinn and G ; A. Hurley won tho patriotic competition at the Wellington courts. Miss Carrick won the ladies' handicap siimlos at the Easter meeting of the Wellington Tennis Association, and Miss Sinclair was second. Fifty members of the club have enlisted, and every other eligible member has bewi called up. Regret is expressed at tho death of Lieutenant L. Girling-Butcher and Private W. H. Bennett, who li.-iro given their lives for the Empire. Congratulations are extended to Captain C. Armstrong, who lius liecn awarded the Military Cross. The committee tenders its thanks to the Hon. J. G. W. Aitkcn and Sir Kenneth Douglua for .donations, to the Press for reports of patriotic nntl other .competitions, and to all members for the assistance given during the year.
