AMATEUR THEATRICALS AT EASTBOURNE
SUCCESSFUL OF "SNOWBALL" Those residents of Eastbourne who conceived the idea of arranging a performance of "Snowball" for the organ fund of St. Albans Church are to bo highly congratulated upon tho success of their cttorts. Tho three-act comedy was staged in tho Eastbourne Hall on Saturday night, and was a huge success, both from a financial and histrionic point of view, all tho performers being well up in their work. _ The hall was crowded, with ( an enthusiastic audience, who waimly applauded the performers. The cast of characters was as follows:—Felix Featherston, Mr. E. M'Millan; Uncle John, Mr. H. S. Prober!;' Harry Prendegast. Mr. J. A. Baine; Saunders, Mr. R. Marsden'; Mrs. Featherston. Miss Elsie Vickers; Ethol Granger, Miss habel Chittey; Penelope, Mrs. H. D. Wise, and too much praise cannot be meted out to the'ra for the manner in which they studied their jiarts, especially as it was their first appearance in comedy. Special praise in duo to. Miss Elsie Vickers, Messrs. Erio M'Milla,u,. Harold S. Probert, and J. A. Bafne for tho capable way they acted their parts, while Mrs. Harry Wise was seen to advantage in the part of Ponelope. Miss Isabel Chittey, who took the part of Ethel Granger, was suffering from ft severe cold, and was therefore not able to do justice to her part, although she was very (successful, and showed great promise, of better things. The minor part of Saunders, tho butler, was capably performed by Mr. R. Marsden. Mention must also bo made of Mr. O.'F. Pago, who coached the performers, and acted as stago manager, and to Mrs. M'Millan, who designed the dresses and furnished the stage; also to Mr. H. Downs, who supplied the light for the stage setting. The Eastbourne Social Club's orchestra played tho overture and appropriate music between the acts.
/Altogether the performance was of special merit, and the organ fund should substantially benefit from it. The business arrangements were in the capablo hands of Mrs. Frank _ Chittey (secretary), who was ably assisted by Mesdames Hartridge and • Probert. During an interval, Mr. Thomas Balrfr.ger, on behalf of St. Albans Church, thanked all those tyho had assisted ,to. make tho 'performance such a success, and congratulated the performers upon tho result of their efforts.
