BRAZILIAN LINER SHELLED
BY A CAMOUFLAGED U-BOAT. , (Rec. September 1, 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa, August 30. News from an Atlantic port Mates that a Brazilian liner, with 350 pas-'., sengers on board, was shelled by a Üboat for two hours, 150 miles off the American coast. Tho U-boat was tlis- ~j guised with canvas smoke-stacks, and was mistaken by the liner's captain for a patrol boat. An American destroyer, in responso to an S.O.S. call, camo up and drovo off tho U-boat. Women and children remained 'on. tho upper decks," wearing life-belts, and watched the shelling until ordered to a place of safety.
