The K.M. steamer Moana is due to arrive at Wellington to-day from San Franoisco, Papeete, and llarotonga, and will berth at the King's Wharf. On Thursday she will sail on the return trip. Westport and Greymouth are the porta to be called at by the Waimea, which sails to-day. If the Tainui arrives from Lyttelton in time to-day. she will sail to-night for Napier and Tokoraaru Bay. The Knhika is to leave Greymouth this afternoon for Wellington. Mr. J. A. Tubbey. of the Union Company's Auckland office, and formerly a purser in tho company's service, has retired after 28 years' service. The Baden Powell will sail for Lyttelton to-night, receiving cargo until noon to-day. At the Railway Wharf on Thursday afternoon next, Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. will sell by public auction the machinery and gear salved from the Defender. Further particulars arc advertised in the, auction sale columns in this issue. Ycßtcrday Mr. Stephen Bernech, chief engineer on the Alexander, and Mr. W. Millar, second engineer on tho Waimea-, exchanged positions.
