WAIRARAPA NEWS
At the annual meeting of the Mauricoville Dairy Company it was decided to procure a plant for the manufacture oil casein. It is probable that the plant will be ready ifor the commencement of operations in November. It is stated that up to date fully £150,000 has been subscribed in the Wairarapa for various patriotic purposes, which represents about £8 per 1-ead of population. Last season the Mauricoville Dairv Company manufactured 190,0731b. of butter, as against 92,3501b. in 1900-'JI. An address on hydro-electricity is to be delivered in Mastorton next month by Mr. C. E. Stark, electrical engineer, of Christchurch. The Wairarapa Patriotic Association has voted a sum of £150 for the r>ac.vision of a lawn tennis court at the Mastorton Hospital for tho use of convalescent soldiers. The proposal sent forward by tho Featherston branch of the Patriotic Association, as received from a committee of the Second Division for the establishment of a medical, maternal, and dental services scheme, met with a favourable reception at a Wairarapa conference held in Masterton oil Thursday.
