COLLEGE GOVERNORS
MONTHLY MEETING OF THE BOARD. "Messrs. W. H. Field, M.P., Mavtia Chapman,, K.C., W. F. Ward, T. Forsyth, W. Allan, and Professor Easterfield were present at yesterday's monthly meeting of the Board of College- Governors. On the motion of Mr. W. H. Field, Mr. W. F. Ward was appointed chairman of the board, in succession to the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, M.L.C., tesigned. On taking his seat Mr. Ward eulogised the services of the late chairman to the boai'd, and emphasised the loss. ■ that had been, sustained by his resignation. On the motion of Professor Easterfield, seconded by Mr. Field, the board passed a motion of appreciation of Mr. Aitken's valuable services to the board and education generally. The secretary notified the board of thu appointment by the Government of Mr. Martin Chapman to the seat vacated by Mr. A. Warburton; awl that Mr. T. Forsyth became a member of the boai'd by virtue of his position as chairman of the Wellington Education Board. The financial statement submitted was as follows: —flalance as per bank book, £1692 19s. Id.; payments required. 'Wellington College, £495 7s. £d.; Girls' College, £171 7s. 4d. Fees outstanding—Wellington College, £305 Is. 7d. j Girls' College, £1514 3s. id; rents outstanding, £72 18s. 3d. It was decided to donate the usual prize money (£SO) to the Girls' College Patriotic Fund.
