TOWN PLANNING

A CONFERENCE POSSIBLE. Mr. S. Hurst Seagiir, of Clirurtchuroh, recently visited Brisbane to take part as an unofficial representative of New Zealand in the Australian Town Venning Conference which has now become an annual' function. "Mr. Soagar," stated tho Hon. G. W. Eussdl (Minister of Internal Affairs) yesterday, "is at present engaged in preparing a full report of the conference fiT the Internal Affairs Department. From the interview that I had with him in Christebnreh, I am of opinion that a great deal of valuable information can bo obtained for New Zealand from the Brisbane conference, and, crnsequpntly, I hope early in the New Yoar to be able to arrange for a town planning conference to be held in "Wellington, at which there will be represented the local governing bodies of tho Dominion, together with those Ministers whoso Departments como into direct touch with the repatriation of our soldiers, which appears to le a subject especially arising out of townplanning movements in Australia. I liupc that the resolutions passed by tho papers read before, tho Australian conference will bo of considerable assistance lo the Government of New Zealand in dealing with this important problem."
