Tho Lowry team for Sydney arrived in Wellington last evening. It consists of the ohampion Deßert Gold, Finmark, Estland, Killowen, and Kilhope. Desert Gold looks well, and has the appearance of having done plenty of work. In conversation with her trainer (F. Davis) the writer gathered that so far it had not been deflnitedy decided as to whethor the mare would take her place in the Melbourne Cup field, and no arrangements would bo come to under this head until lier owner arrived in Sydney and had seen her race. Some of the three-year-olda would ruu in tho Chelmsford Stakes, nino furlongs, at Tattersall's mooting next month, and also in the Bosehill Guineas a week later, while Fstland, who is engaged in the A.J.O. Metropolitan Handicap may bo given a pipe-opener in tha Itoseliill Spring Stakes, one mile. Desert Gold would not bo raced until the biff Bandwiek fixture, and her first appearance would bo in the Spring Stakes, one mile and a half, run on the opening day. After that there was the Craven Plato, one mile and a Quarter, and the Itandwick Plate, two miles, to engage her attention. A win in any of those rncos would not entail a penalty for tho Melbourne Cup, and they would greatly assist her preparation should it be decided to start her in tho Flemington event. Tf nil sroes well with the thrce-yenr-olds both Finmark and Killowen will contest the A.J.O. Dorbv. .T. O'Shea is already in Sydney, and will do the riding of the team.
