WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held last night. There were present Messrs. C. E. Danicll (chairman), W. Wallis, J. G. Harkness, It. A. Wright, 31.P., W. Cable, A. H. Hiiidniiirsli, M.P., M. W. Welch, J. W. M'Ewan, J. G. Cobbe, A. MacFarlane, 11. 15. Sinclair, and M. Cohen. The bank books showed a credit to current account of £60,980, and to imprest account £2600. Tliero is £60,000 on fixed deposit. Tho chairman gave a verbal Toport oil the proceedings of tho Harbours Conference, promising that a full printed report would be supplied to members later. The report of tho harbourmaster (Captain J. Dawson) was received, and the Ijoard oxpressed approval of tho action of Captain" Dawson in removing and beaching the burning steamer Defender, and complimented him on the vigour and energy ho had shown in dealiug with tho situation.
