NEW ATTACK BY THE FRENCH
RUSSIAN SITUATION DEVELOPS
The Allies' splendid advance continues to produce striking developments as day follows day. To-day Sir Douglas Haig reports "a general successful advance.'' Tho Canadians liavo deeply penetrated the, enemy's line, capturing two villages. From Croisilles to Bapaunie tho New Zealanders have been hearily but vainly counter-attacked. Tho Australians, in the south, are reported to be about six miles from Peronne, and still making progress. General de Beney's French troops have captured Fresnoy-les-Roye, advancing over two miles on . a front of eight miles. The situation in Russia shows signs of interesting developments, if a message this morning can be relied 011. The Allies from Archangel have established communication, with the CzJecho-Slovaks in the Viatka region, and there is a possibility « that Moscow and Petrograd may be cut off.
