ST. JAMES'S CHURCH
ANNUAL REPORT. TIIO annual report of St. James'g Presbyterian Church states that the communicant membership of the congregation at June 30 was 413, against 405 at tho close of tho preceding year. There ■wero 30 additions by certificate and 30 by examination. Since the last annual meeting four members of the congregation have passed away—Mrs. Luff, a loifg and faithful Sunday School teacher, Mesdames Niccol and AVickstead, also 3fr. J. Telford. There are 121 names on the roll of honour. Of these 45 are communicant members; 11 have ' made the supremo sacrifice; several have been wounded, and others are still in tho firing line or on the way to the front. The minister has, as far as time and strength would allow, diligently continued the work of pastoral visitation, with the help of Mrs. Shirer, among the congregation, and given prompt and appreciative attention to all cases of sickness or sorrow brought under his notice, while his practical interest in the inmates of tho District Hospital has been fully maintained. The number of baptisms for the year was 52. Service was conducted by the minister at 5G funerals. During tho year Messrs. AV. A. Cameron and AV. 11. Whiting were transferred from tho deacons' court to the session, and Messrs. A. Barn, H. P. Donald, \\ r . -J. Kerr, and E. Upton were appointed members of the deacons' court. Mr. AA 7 . A. Cameron represents tho church at tho Presbytery meetings. The Sunday School's Toll at the end of the year was IG9 boys and 184 girls (this includes 61 boys and 74 girls in' the infant classes), with an average attendance of 23(1. Mr. Richmond continues as superintendent, nnd Mesdames Duncan and Bird direct tho infant division. The cradle roll is now 264, as against 232 for last year, and is still under the care of Miss Davidson.
The balance-sheet for tho year shows receipts amounting-to .6815 13s. lid., and after deducting outgoings there is a balance to credit of .ClB -ts. sd. The amounts raised during the year included .frit by the Red Cross Guild. The Sunday School account shows receipts amounting to .£lO5 Ms. Id. The cash balance to credit is .C-l 18s. sd.
