MAGISTRATE'S COURT
EFFECT OF TOO MUCH. DRLNIC,
•Mr. W. G. Kiddell, S.IL. presided over the business at the Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Horace Robert Tatton was accused nf having answered questions put to liim by a police sergeant in reference to his military status in a wilfully misleading manner, and with having.'broken the conditions of his prohibition order. Accused pleaded guilty. Inspector Mavsack staled that the first offence was attributable to accused being somewhat under the influence of drink. As a matter of fact the man's military papers were in order, and ho had been classed C 2. Ho was found in the City Hotel, and when asked for his particulars slated that his name was Hobcrt Jackson and that lie had no residence at nil. "No doubt if you had been sober you would liavs answered these questions correctly." remarked Mr. Eiddell to accused. Tatton was fined 10s., in default 21 hours, on the first charge, and was ordered to pay 405., with the alternative of seven days' imprisonment, on the second information.
A _ young man named Alomo Albert Hewison. who was arrested at Porirua on Wednesday night, was remanded until August 30 on a, charge of having forced the name of Richard Hewison to a Post Oflice Savings Bank withdrawal slip for £[() and uttering it to "Rita Martin, postmistress at Porirna, on August 21. Unit was allowed, self in the sum of £'o and one surety of .£75. UNDEFENDED CIVIL CASES.
