Messrs. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly sale at Levin on August ID, when they ollcred a medium yarding oC shctp and cattle. Competition lor sheep was sound, and there wan a good inquiry Tor hoggots. The cattle market was dull. The principal sales, were as under:—'Medium shorn hoggets, 165.; small do.. 13s. Bd. to 145.: empty ewes. 175.; lightweight, fat cows, £11 to £11 10s.; small, bad coloured, m.s. weaners, 48s. to 525.; bulls, £8 to £9 10s.
The Hawkc's Bay Farmers' Co-op. Association, Ltd., Dannevirke; report having held a clearing sale on Monday on lielialf of Mr. John O'Hara, when there was a lame attendance of buyers. The cows were a credit to the owner, and were in very t nice condition. Unfortunately, from the sale point of view, tho bulk of them had calved, otherwise, no doubt, prices would have none still Inciter. It was, however, a record sale for tho district. The highest price for the day was £28 10s.. but there was very few sold under £20. Tho herd of, 38 milking cows made the satisfactory average of £19 55., and 7 two-year-old heifers were sold in a lino nt £15 155.; yearling heifers made £5 12s. 6d„ and 7 newly-horn heifer calves. 295. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association. Ltd., stock department, report having held a special heifer sale at their Carterton yards on Tuesday The entries came forward well above the advertised numbers, and elicited keen competition. The firm sold the whoie yarding except four late calvers. The following prices were realised:—ll heifers, on account of Mr. W. If. Bolib, £12 10s.; 8 do., on account of Mr. W. Saywcll. £13 2s. 6d., £14. to £14 155.; cows, on account of Mr. P.. Niinn, £13 2s. 6d. and £14 17s. 6d.; 17, on account Mr. It. Oatcs, £11 17s. 6d.; 5, on account Mr. E. Taolicrsley. £11 7s. 6(1.; others. £9, £10 10s.. to £13 2s. lid.: 10 springing cows, on account Mr. 11. Itavner, £20 2s. 6d., £19 155.. £16 7s. 6d., £16. to £13 ss. (average £17 10s.); on account Messrs. Fisher Bros., £19, £16 iOs., £15, £14 10s., £14, £13 55.. £12 17s. 6d., £12, £11, lo £10 10s. (the whole herd averaged £13 53.1: prime fat, cows, £17 18s.

on August 13, in tho Farmers' Yards, <i largo yarding of sheep and a fair entry of eatllo was offered. Competition under tho hammer was not particularly keen, but before the end of tho day the lirm managed to quit practically tho whole of tho entry at satisfactory prices. Quotations: 100 four-tooth wethers, 335. 3d.; 163 hoggets, good, 2<ss. 3d.; 21 do., Ms. Id.; 156 do., 255. Ad ; 200 do., 255. Id.; 60 do., 23b. lOd.; 105 four and five-year owes, iii lamb (low eoudition), 225.; 85 do. On August 14 a very successful sale was held on Account of Mr. J. Jensen, at Konini, -when implements, furniture, etc., offered realised highly satisfactory prices. At Woodville on August 19 .a small yarding of sheep and tattlo was offered to a good attendance, The following Bales were effected:—l 94 wether hoggets (very good), 305.; 52 m.B. hoggets (good), 265.; 40 ni.s. culls, lis.: springing heifers (very good), £16; springing cow, £18 10s.; heifers, duo October and September. £8.
