Owners should not overlook the closing of ■ acceptances for tlio Marton Meeting. These are due 011 Tuesday next. Entries for tlio Dannevirke Meeting close on- Wednesday of next week. J. H. Prosser is sending Gwynne, Gold fioult, arid Blighty to the Morton Meeting. After competing there they will race at the Otafei Meeting. F. Tilley passed through Wellington yesterday with Gang Awa'. Tho black gelding is to bo given a spell before being asked to race again. Tilley has a big team engaged at Marton next month, including tho high-priced Moutoa, Ivanova, a fullsister to SaEanof, who has so far not sported silk.
Form Up has been eugaged in the Marton Cup, one mile and a quarter, in which ho is top-weight with 9st. So far tho Stewards' Handicap winner has not won over a further distance than seven furlongß, but ho finished third in the Thompson Handicap, and with age may yet get a middle distance successfully.
As far as can be gatherci! St. Elnm and .Collector are the only Now Zealand steeplechasers likely to be sent to Australia to race. Mr. F. fj. Easton was considering aentlintr Master Strowan to ilandwiok and f'lemington, but owing to his inability to make the trip himself he did not go on with the project. The Jliccai'ton horseman G. Clarke has applied for a permit, to visit Australia, and if this ia forthcoming he will journey over with J. If. Cameron, when the Hastings trainer takcH Mr. W. Itichmond's horses next week.
Kipling, who is engaged in tile Trial Hack Plate at Marton, is now owned by a patron of J, Coyle's stables at Bulls. So far Kipling has not started in a race.
Mr. F. Armstrong, owner of Yellow and Black, lias not 9cen his horse race this season. He is now quite himself again, and hopes to be present at tho Marton Meeting, where Yoilow and Black is engaged in the Kanijitikei Steeplechase.
A. M'Mullan was brought before tho Judical Uommitteo at Kiccarton on Saturday to answer a complaint made by Mr. Cran Tilt that, having been refused tho ride on St. Clot us, ho had influenced other riders not to take the mount if it should ho offered them. After hearing the evidence of Henderson and Anderson, the committee decided to take no action beyond cautioning M'Mullan, as there was some doubt as to how far lie had gone in the matter.
Thanks to the dual success of Kauri King, the Tauranga snortßman, Mr. A. N. (libbons, headed the list of winning ownerß at the Grand National Mooting with prize money amounting to .BIJ3C. Others who did well were:—Messrs. W. Eichmond, £1050; P. J. Marshall. £490; V. and 13. liiddiford, £550; T. Wilson, £300; h. If. Collinson. £280; J. Bull, jun., '£280; Y» r . Garrett, £240; and A. W. liutherSord. jun., £200.
Of the many horsemen who donned silk at llieo.H'ton last 'reck, only P. Ullis and Stan lteid managed to catch tlia judgc'p eye on more than one occasion. Those who scored one win were:—h. Sir George CliUord haa sold Gamecock to Mr. 0. 0. T. Rutherford, and lie haa gone into P. H'Grath's Btable.
