A NAVY BOOK
AND A. BENEFIT RAFFLE. A special meeting of members of the Navy League was held in tho leaguo's rooms yesterday. Mr. J. B. Harcourt was in the chair, and there .was, a.good Attendance of members present. Tho chairman, explaining the purpose for which the meeting had lieen called, said that Admiral Farquhar had forwarded lo His Excellency the Governor c.opie.s of a book entitled "The Navy Book of Fairy Tales." Twelve copies of the book had been signed by tho two ■principal admirals in tho Jutland battle,Sir John .Tellicoe and Sir David Boattio. Two of tho copies had been forwarded for disposal in New Zealand, and His Excellency tho Eatl of Liverpool had given to "the branches of the league in tho South .Island ono of tho two copies for disposal. The other 'he gave to the branches of tho lcaguo in the North Island.
It was ■igroed that tho North Island hook bo disposed of by raffle, and tho members of tho league present undertook fo canvass in different parts of tho city. Jt was mentioned nt tho noting that the South Island book had realised tho mini of .£-183, and members hoped to raise a similar amount in the North Island. The book is to be exhibited in roduv shop window in Wellington during the week. ' The proceeds from tho sale of this book will be given to the funds of the Royal Marine Orphans' Homes at Portsmouth, Plymouth, and Tho Nore.
