CENTRAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
iThe council of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce met yesterday. Mr. A. Leigh Hunt presided. * It was reported tftat a workers' educational class on economics had been started as. a result of Professor Hunter's lecture to.,jjiembers of the'chamber. It was-'resolved that members called up for military service, be elected to honorary membership', suel> honorary membership not to apply to the firms so represented. ' ■
As to I he request of the Napier Chamber of Commerce for co-operation inj a scheme for the formation of ?i board for the taking over of soldiers' businesses, it was resolved to secure consideration of a proposal that all businesses should be sold at a reasonable value, or that a board should be appointed to value the businesses and take them over on behalf of tho Government, and also to consider with tho Accountants' Society the question'of the raising of war loans free of taxation.
