HIDE AND TALLOW SALES
The fortnightly sales of hides and tallow were held yesterday by the various brokers;. x j Messrs Dalgety and Co. report that competition was keen, and all descriptions sold at slightly higher rates than last sales.

Ihe N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency .Co., Ltd., report having offered a fair sized catalogue. There was a good de- . mand for light hides and calfskins. TalI'low was a little lower in price. [ Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd; ■Report that they submitted a fairly largo catalogue to a full bench of buyera, and ■bidding was brisk on most lilies Ox ihides were not keenly competed for, for elthmigh prices show a considerable rise last sale, cow hides were 'in bmlc demand,, and henvies were about Jd. hotter, medium and light being about on ,R par.
