MEAT REQUISITION
PRODUCERS AGREE TO EXTENSION QUESTION OF PROFITS Representatives of the meat producers ' of the Dominion met the Minister in Charge of,lmperial Supplies (the Hon. *). H, Guthrie) and the Minister of 'Agriculture.(the Hon. W. D. S. J[ae- • iJonald) yesterday to discuss with them the question o f .the extension of the meat requisition scheme beyond the period for whioh the present arrangement exists. Under the- contract at present standing the requisition is to ceass three months after the war. The proposal ibefore tho conference was that the period should bo .;, extended to make the cessation of the contract co-terminous with the wool contract—twelve months after .Tune 30 f01..: ..: lowing the termination of hostilities. The delegation was unanimous as to /the desirability of the extension of the : (requisition, but some of the delegates Suggested that there should he some ar- \ ; .ranj>ement for the 'distribution of any .'profits that might be made out of the 'sale of;the moat.in England. 'There is • !iiuoh an arrangement about the profits 'on the sale-of wool, and '.he suggestion was that a like arrangement should be '.nude,in.regard to meat. The point was not pressed, and the presumption is that dt will not .lie'.pressed in the negotiations .. that must follow 1 with the British Government on the matter of the extension' . rot the .requisition. ;
