Mr. Ronald Opie, one of the most brilliant athletes New Zealand has-produced, died in Christchurch Hospital this , morning from injuries received in a inotoicycling accident on July 15 on the Papan'lii Road. The accident was due to the very slippery nature of the road following on a fall of snow. The .motor-cycle skidded and Mr. Opie received 1 injuries to his head which rendered him unconscious. He was taken to th? hospital where ho lingered until to-day, Mr. Opie was■« son of Mr. C. 11. Opie. chairman of the Canterbury Education Board, and was 27 years of age. At the time of the accident he was headmaster of tho West Eyreton School. He leaves a widow, ami four children. At the 1911 New Zealand Championships at.
