Wedding at New Plymouth, The wedding was solemnised at St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, on Wednesday of Miss Alix Keynton Warren, second daughter of the late Henry Alexander Warron, 8.N.Z., and of Airs. WiUTCU-'i'aucred (N.l'.), to Mr. Maxwell Harper Lepper, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harper Bryson Lepper, of Lepperton, Taranaki. The bnde was given atv-iy by her mother, und wore- a dress of white crepe de chine, with whiio maraboit feather cape and a .vhite ,picture hat to match, trimmed with tulle. She was attended by two bridesmaids—her sister, Miss Toi Warron, who woro a sapphire Who cloth lrock trimmed with military silk, and.blue straw hat, and her small niece, June Emery, who wore a turquoiss blue velvet coat trimmed with blaclc silk cord, and a black velvet picture hat. The best man was Mr. Ernest Cu(field (in uniform), who was on iimil leave from camp. Mrs. Warren-Tan-ered (mother of the bride) .woro a costumo of navy, gabardine, with a black marabout feather cape and black taffeta silk hat. Mrs. Gilbert Emery (Sydney), sister of the bride, was in a navy blue coat frock, with natural wolf furs, and block high-crowned straw hat. Mrs. Lepper wore a black costume, furs, and a violet hat, and Mrs. Ernest Cutiield (sistor of iho bridegroom) a fawn gabardine costume and navy straw hat lined with piuk. After the ceremony the wedding parry motored.to tho home- of the bride's mother, Westown, where the wedding breakfast wis held. The tables had been daintily arranged with pale blue and pink streamers and violete, with here and there a kewpie. Later in the day the bride ami bridegroom left by motor for tho north. A huge number of people visit >d tho shop yesterday, and tho J-'horndon girls have every reason to be pleased with the result of the'day anil tlio ycnai'al iniweat which was shown in their woru.
Tlio stalls, wero plentifully ii'Jotl with good things, and very soou all ware sold. Thero was a quantity of meat and vegetables, and the hoine-raado cakes were especially good, also the- sweets, which are always an attraction. Tho dainty needlework, of which a very great deal consisted of orders, was very much admired and found ready purchasers. Tho nion's outfit, which had created n great deal of interest, was won by Mr. Blair (No. 5522). This raffle added si considerable sum to the day's takings, and Miss Lulu Dyer, who was tho organiser and promoter of it, is to bo congratulated on its success. Those'taking part in this very successful day wero the Misses Shirtclilfc, Stott, M. Joseph. L. Dyer, Brien, Balcombc Brown, Marchbanks and Knight. Tho largo sum of over .£l3O lias been raised by this day, and the organisers should feel well satisfied. Miss Clara Rogers at Oatlands. A member of the Clara Eogcrs Comforts Fund Committee in Wellington has received tho following letter iroiri Miss Sogers, who is at tho Y.M.C.A., Hutt at Oatlands Drive. Weybridge {Surrey) :— . "Wo had the first of our river trips for convalescents to Windsor last Tuesday. It was a" glorious day, and with a good party and an extra treat for the 'bluo boys" in the way of a good dinnor and tea-, ovorything went splendidly. Many of them got through tho castle, but those who did not visited Eton College and St. , George's 'Chapel, and thoroughly enjoyed tho sights. Tho Scotch and tho N.Z.'s aro great pals always, much more so than tho English Tommies..

The monthly meeting of the Levin Memorial Home was held at the home, Brittomarfc Street, on Tuesday. Miss Archibald presided. Tho matron reported the children were all well. Under the auspices of the New Zealand War Contingent Association various kinds of handiwork aro taught in this instiution to wounded and convalescent men. Wellington Girls' College Concert. A largely attended concert, in aid oi the Ramabai Mission, was held at tho Wellington Girls' Col lego yesterday ovening. A varied programme had been ar-,, ranged for the occasion, and met with much appreciation from the audience. Tlic following contributed: The College Glee Club (under, tho direction of Miss Newman), "La Donna E. Mobile" (Verdi), and later on in the evening the club sang "Spring Flowers.' , Recitations wore given by K. Shirer, J. Meadows, G. Garshook, including that of "Gay Gordon," in which S. Neilson, M. Mitchinson, and S. Mileai took part, also a eceno from "Julius Caesar," nerformed by A. Smith, D. Donnelly, *M. Mllesi, and N. Hutchinson. An action song, "The Burlesque Band," was performed by tho juniors, and another, "Lavender Blue/' by the kindergarteners. E. Fossette, G. Uaine, U. Key worth, and F. Churchill contributed a quartet, and F. Henry a violin solo. A one-timn favourite, "I Don't Want to Play in Your Yard," in duet form, was givon bv D. Bedkober and L. Trengrove. The " coneluding item was a 'little comedy entitled "Let Me Feel Yow Pulse," in which tho following took part with much success: A. Harverson, C. Leah, Dawson. G. Raine, J. Wade, and C. Wilkinson. The girls who contributed elocutionary items were the pupils of Mrs. Hartshorn, mistress of elocution at the college. Of material assistance in.adding to the proceeds of the entertainment were stalls for the sale of sweets and flowers, the former having been niost effectively decorated with black and white, and the latter also looking charming with its wealth of blooms. Y.W.C.A. Motes. Next Thursday at thc'Y.W.C.A. Miss Edith Howes, author of "Sun's Babies," "Tho Cradle- Ship," and "Eainbow Children," will givo a talk on "Tho Fascination of the Beacli." Miss E. L. Perkins, who.has for tho past eight years" been working in the Egyptian General Mission, will speak at tho Y.W.C.A. on Sunday afternoon. Miss Perkins arrived in New Zealand five weeks ago, but she has only just reached Wellington. Her work in Egypt has been of an educational character, and sho has boon located for some time in the Land of Goschen, four miles north-east of Cairo. An interesting feature of Miss Perkins's recent experiences has been her work amongst the soldiers, both in entertaining the men and conducting (ho reI ligious meetings.
Major W. H. Pettit, N.Z.M.C., lectured to a crowded audionco of women and girls at tho Y.W.C.A. on Thursday ovening. His subject, "Tho Power of Womanhood," was dealt with idealistically and practically. Tho speaker emphasised tho need of sex education by mothers and by teachers, and the need for girls to hold their self-respect unblemished, not only for their own honour, but in order to help tho men to hold trno to their highest standard of chivalry. At tho conclusion of tho lecture thanks to Major Pettit were expressed by Mis 3 Marjorio Nickolls for the audience, by Miss Hunt, M.A.. for tho Educational Committee, u.id by Mrs. Pearson for the Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors.

Italian Red Cross Day, A meeting of the committee of the Tta ban Bed Cross Society was hold last night, Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp being in tho chair. A letter « read from tho honorary secretary of the Sydney Italian Bed Cross Day Fund, stating that a box of badges and buttons wa.s being presented by the Sydney society to tho Wellington society. A letter was also received from Mrs. Fiasehi, stating that at the request of the delegate of tho Italian Bed Cross, Melbourne,' she was for warding a box of Italian novelties, made in Borne, for file benefit of tho Wellington appeal. Major Sim was appointed chairman of the street collection committee, and Mr. Fuller was appointed chairman of the entertainment committee. Tt was decided to ask Mr. .1. P. Luke, C.M.G.\ who is president of the society, to preside at a meeting of all workers, which will bo called at the end of the month. The annual meeting of tho Pioneer Club was held at the club last evening, Lady Stout (president) occupying tho chair. Tho report and balance-sheet disclosed a satisfactory state of affairs, and the following were elected members of the committee:—Mrs. Sonnnorville, Mrs. J. C. Andersen, and Mies Edith Howes, tho remaining committee membors being Mrs. A. I?. Atkinson, Mrs. Fcild, and Miss Hejyer. Lady Stout was re-elected president. Some .discussion took place as to the re-forming' of a debating circle, which had once been a 'successful branch of the club's activities, and it was decided to hold the matter oyor for another meeting.
Miss Teresa M'Enroe took part.in the Hastings Orchestral Society's concert, which was held in Hastings last evening.
