Mr. J. C. Cooper stated at the annual meeting of shareholders of tho Wellington Farmers' Meat Company on Wednesday that a lot of faulty wool had been discovered last season, particularly among the finer crossbred lambs. He .suggested that this was due to the use of faulty dips. Ho also stated that tho quality of the wool sliped last season was not up to tho standard of previous years. Teams representing the primary schools of Wellington, Wanganui, AVnirarapa, and Palmerston will play a football tournament in tho Wairarapa, at tho end of tho present month. Tho total receipts in connection with entertainments recently given ill Masterton by 11 concert company from the CI Camp amounted to ;El3B Ss. (Id. The expenses were .£'3B 18s. Gd. It was stated by an appellant at tho sitting of tho Military Service Appeal Board in Masterton this week that ho had taken JM7G in one year off twentytwo acres of land by mixed farming. At Ihe I'entliersloii Borough Council meeting on Wednesday night, the Mayor (Mr. ,T. W. Card) reported that no success had attended his efforts to raise the loan of cE2OOO authorised iu connection with financing tho completion of tho sewage, in view of tho whole of the Crawford bequest not being yet available. A further application was being made to tho Public Trustee. Councillor A. C. Holms, treasurer, commented adversely on the policy of the Minister of I'inanco as to limiting local bodies to the payment of 5} per cent., whilst granting War Loan investors up to <£ti 3s. Oil. per cent, for their money. On the- motion of tho treasurer, the T'eatherston Borough Council decided to unanimously support (he overtures of .tho Hastings Borough Council as to the internment of enemy aliens.
