DEFENCE EXPENDITURE
1 By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Palmcrston North, August 15. 'Die trustees of tho Mamnvatu branch of the National Efficiency Board 10-day passed tho following resolution:—"That (his board of business men views with regret tho extravagant methods uf expenditure of some branches of the Defence Department, as disclosed in the report of Sir Robert Anderson and his colleagues, and trusts that the Efficiency Board will be invited to act as civilian representatives on the board which has beer;, set up by t!;o Minister of Defenco to advise tho Government a,s to tho means by which economies may 'bo effected."
