Tho reflttting of the Auckland tup Stella into a cargo steamer is, after flvo months, Hearing completion. Extensive alterations and overhaul have boon carried out. Tho fore-cabin and saloon have been gutted, and tho after bulkhead in tho forwardhold has been shifted 7ft. aft. The result of this is a fore-hold capable, of holding over 200 tons of cargo, besides the two now 1000-gallon tanka fitted at the after end. The afte.'-hold has ,aIBO been extended. Sho was expected to go on her trial trip yesterday, and is to sail for Dunedin at tho end of tho week. Captain It. Hamilton ! has been superintending the refitting of the vessel, being assisted l;y tho chief, engineer, Mr. K. Chisliolm, of Dunedin. The. other officers joining the vessel are:-Chief, Mr; A. J. Tho Bluff "Press" states that it has been decided that Captain 11. .T. Hamilton, who will.' leave Auckland in a few days with the refitted steamer Stella for Dunedin. will subsequently take over tho command of the Antio'ie when that famous dinner arrives back in tho Dominion. Both sho and the Stella now run under the same ownership of tho Otago Iron Rolling Mills Company, Ltd. Captain Hamilton's present command, the Si 611 a. is a sißtcr vessel to the Government steamer Hinemoa, and it is interesting to recall Hint Captain M'Donald was mate on the Stella when he accented the position of harbourmaster at. Bluff, and Captain Hamilton was mato on the Hinemoa when he joined the THnf harbourmaster's staff as second pilot. Captain Hamilton vacated tl« post of master at Bluff Boms months ago to tako over the command of the Stella.
