The Nationil Executive of. the Second Division League met last evening. ' A number of replies from the Minister of Defeilco to recent representations were discussed, the bulk of I hem being held over for reference, io (tie branches. It was decided to write In the Minister again on the question of separation allowances to men on home service in the camps and forts who are actually separated from their families, pointing out that although this matter hud been brougui under the notice of the authorities at
tho beginning of the year nothing had yet been done In remedy i the injustice under which this class ot war-worker had to labour. The separation allowances paid to these men is' Is. per day for the wifo and 9d. per day for each 'child. A further batch of eases of unsatisfactory financial assistance grants and delay's in pnyments of grants which had been authorised some time ago we're dealt with. . ■ The Cliristchureli Leaguo reported having opened a bureau of advice for reservists, and also having instituted a series of talks to men about to enter camp, when tho assistance of returned men was secured to give addresses placing reservists in possession of valuable information.
