LARGE STOCK OF BENZINE DESTROYED

By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 13. A serious fire occurred to-day,. between seven and eight thousand cases of benzine being destroyed. The alarm was given at ten o'clock, the building being enveloped before the brigade could arrive. The benzine was owned by Wright, Stephenson and Co., aiid was insured for .£BOOO in the Commercial Union Assurance. Tho building was owned by Mr. E. Porter, and was valued at between .£3OO and JMOO. JLt was totally destroyed. A smaller building, also owned by Mr. Porter, and containing the following stocks of benzine—Dexter and Crozie.' 45 cases, A. B. Donald 220 cases, Porter and Co. 10 cases—also ignited, but the stock was saved. There was no insurance on these stocks. Neither of the buildings was insured.
