To-day's news from tho Western battlefield is again most satisfactory and encouraging. Successful loral operations on sectors, alternating with heavy battles for contested points, notably at the massif of Laesigny and the Eoye-Lassigny Eoad. The enemy is desperately trying to hold en here until he can at least remove some of tho vast accumulations of war material! they had concentrated to support his offensive plans. Tho French aro said to be practically on the crest of the massif of Lassigny. The Russian situation is beginning t assume a new and important interest in view of the new war in Siberia. Tho Japanese advance troops have, jur.ctioned with the Czejho-Siovak forces, which latter are said to number 300,000. ( A Canadian force is to bo attnehed to the Allied expedition in Siberia.
