TOTALISATOR SUPERVISION
GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR APPOINTED. Mr. P. J. Kellehcr, chicf clerk of tha Internal Affairs Department, has been appointed Inspector of Totalisators, and ho will supervise the working of (he machines at Riccarton and Addington this week. This will be the inauguration by tho Government of a nciv system in connection with the management of the totalisator. Tho .Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, in telegraphing to tha Canterbury Jockey Club and the Metropolitan Trotting Club, announcing Cabinet's , approval of Mr. Kellelier's appointment, says: "His duties will be to act ns inspector within, tho totalisator house, and rx that the figures for each race aro accurately compiled and displayed before the raco starts, in order that the requirements of the law may in future be strictly 'carricd ont, and until he appends his certificate of accuracy of the total no raco will bo allosved to start. The figures approved by him will bo thoso which will bo shown in the totalisator for each horse, and for tha grand total. I look for the support of all the clubs in making this appointment as a further guarantee to the public of the accuracy of the totalisator re« turns."
