HARVEST PROSPECTS.
London, August 11. Mr G. N. Barnes (member of the War Cabinet), speaking at Palmer's Green, said that tnis yew's harvest, if used for the purpose of bread alono, would bo sufficient to suffice all needs of the population for forty weeks. Ho was awaro that somo grain would 'bo used for beer. Mr. G. 11. Roberts, Minister for labour, in a speech at Maulstone, emphasised tho importance of increasing homo production. Meanwhile wilh tho view of giving security to agriculture, wo must make somo departuro in tho fiscal system to which tho country had boon attached. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
