LADIES' ASSOCIATION The second series of games in tho second round of the ladies' competitions was played nt Karori Park on Saturday. Pinmblers A (last season's winners) were defeated for the second time this season, Public Trust lowering their colours by two goals to one. College A proved too good for University, and now have n lend of four points. In view of the tournnment being held here this season, it was decided to play trial games next Saturday. The names of the selected teams will appear in Thursdays paper. Following are the results of the various games:— Seniors. In the match Public Trust v. Ramblers A play openod with Public Trust getting the 'best of the bully-off. Play was nt Ramblers end for a few minutes, but a free hit relieved the pressure. Ramblers then forced play into Public Trust quarters, but off-side play lost their chance of scoring. Play for a timo was very even, and then Miss Lang, getting the ball in the circle, shot the first goal for Ramblers. Just before halftime Miss Gilfedder evened up scores for Public Trust, and the spell ended one all. In the second spsll the play was very fast, Ramblers missing two chances to score by wild shooting. Tho Public Trust forwards were playing a great game, and soon had Ramblers defending, and Miss M'lnernoy registered the second goal for Public Trust. The game ended without further score, Public Trust winning by two goals to one. Mr. Edwards had charge of the game. In the Wellington Girls' College A v. University match University attacked from the start, and a few minutes after opening Miss George scored. College then got into their stride, and soon tend University in trouble, and put on threo goals by tho nid of Miss Marchbanks, before tho end of tho spell, lu the second spell the 'game was more even, and the only goal scored was by Miss Nielson (College). College won by four goals to one. Mr. Jones .was referee. After a very close and interesting game Huahati won from Ramblers B by three goals to one. The scorers were:—For Huahati, Misses Nemmo (2), ICdmondson (1); and, for Ramblers, Miss Condon (1). Mr. Dougall was referee. Base Records won by default over Pay Department. » Juniors. Te Aro School proved 100 good for Girls' College, defeating them by four goals to two. In the first spell Misses Bedoil and Wilkinson scored tor College, and Miss M'Kinuon for the School. In the second spell-Misses Leak and AVallaco scored for the School. Air. Wheatley had charge of the game. MEN'S COMPETITIONS. The concluding game in the first round of the men's competitions was played on Saturday. The T'rentham A team camo out on top without a defeat, while Ramblers filled second place, with only one loss. Following aro the results:— 'J'reutham A v. Trentham B.—The A team had all the best of the game, winning by sis goals to one. In the first spell *tho A's scored five goals to nil— Ghampness (2), Crimp (2), and Sanderson (1). In tho second spell, play was very even, each side scoring one goal. For the A's, Champness, and, for tho B's, Lees, were the scorers. Mr. Lloyd was referee. Ramblers t. Y.M.C.A.-In the first spell Ramblers, playing with great combination, had all tho best of play, putting on three goals to Y.M.C.A.'s one. Wheatley, Kucli, and Tait scored for Rambler's, and Btmendale for Y.M.C.A. In tho second spell Hogan -for Y.M.C.A.) and Wheatley (for* Ramblers) scored. Ramblers won by four goals to two. Mr. Edwards had charge of the game. Y.M.C.A. C v. Featherston.-Feather-ston, playing ono man short, suffered defeat bv five goals to four. In the first spell Y.M.C.A. scored four goals (Tandy 2, Adams 2); while, for Featherston, Shepherd and Egan scored one each. In tho second half Egan awl Richmond scored for Featherston, while Pcarce scored for Y.M.C.A. My. Wheatley was referee. Karori v. Base Records—After a fast, open game Karori defeated Base Records by four goals to two. In the. first, spell, Dobson 6cored for Base Records, and Hull and Adams scored for Karori. In the second hnlf, O'Brien, for Base Records, and Sowry and Smith, for Karori, scored. I Mr. Dougall was referee. ' Y.M.C.A. B won by default from Pay Department. C 9 1 1 7 12 00 3 Pay Department 9 1 - 310 39 2 OTAGO V. CANTERBURY. By Telegraph—Press Association Dunedin, August 10. A hockey match, Otago v. Canterbury, was played to-day in splendid weather. The ground wus heavy owing to recent rains, and the attendance fait. The proceeds are to bo devoted to the Soldiers' Convalescent Home. The game opened with a brief attack by Otngo, but about five minutes later Canterbury got into their strido and dominated play for,the greater part of tho game. The visitors were heavier and faster, and played with better combination than the home team, the Canterbury forwards showing marked superiority. Despite tho heavy scoring, the Otago backs showed fine defence. The game resulted in a win for Canterbury by G goals to 1. The Otago score was registered in the last minute. The-scorers for Canterbury were: Smith (3), Bell (2), and Holland. Hogg scored for Otago. Smith, Soper, Holland and Beaton nlayed best for the visitors, and Foote, Ityburn, and Park best for Otago.
