MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THEFT 01' ZINC. Two men named Albert' Benny, alias TVeokes, and Ernest Hunter, described as hawkers, appeared before Mr. W. (j. Biddoll, S.M., at the -Magistrate's Court on Saturday, chained with having 6tolen on August 5 an ingot of zinc, valued at ,235., the property of tho Kia Ora Galvanising Company. It was stated that tho two men called at tho company's office, intending to sell some scrap zinc. An argument arose as to tho weight of the metal, and t'lio accused went away. The manager of tho firm thou noticed that an ingot was missing from the office, and, Riving chase, saw tho ingot being carried into a dealer's shop. Each of tho accused was fined £i, in default 14 days' imprisonment. A young man named Harold Hoy Hector Babb' was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on a charge of having obtained a sum of JM 17s. from John Mortimer on July 12, by means of a valueless cheque. For committing an indecent act, Hugh Gill was lined £5, in default one month's imprisonment.
