BURGLARY IN KELBURN

THIEVES MAKE A BIG HAUL AND ESCAPE UNOBSERVED A somewhat serious burglary is reported to have occurred in Kelburn a few rights ago. The robbers entered the house of Mr. N. Phillips, of Fnirnew Crescent, and made away with loot said to be worth several hundred, pounds. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips left their home quite early in 'the evening, and wore absent from their house for some hours. During their absence the robbery was done. As they wero leaving the hotise in the evening they noticed a pile of cases on the kerb near by, and when they returned they saw that the boxes had been removed. Inside tho house they found to their consternation that all their most cherished possessions—jewellery, plate, and silverware, and the best of their clothing—had vanished. There does not seem to be much doubt that the cases which had boen observed en the sidewalk played an important part in the thieves' plans. It is believed that the stolen goods were packed in the empty cases, and from the scene of the robbery removed in a cart to some place of concealment. It is understood that tins is the second burglary that has (aken place in Kolbnrn in the course of tho past 'three or four weeks. Mr. Phillips's house is not on a frequented thoroughfare, Trot is in plain view from all houses in the neighbourhood, being on* an eminence, with a steep approach.
