Advice was received from tho Northern Steamship Company, Auokland, yesterday that, owing to the detention of the Harawo at tho breakwater at New Plymouth, there will bo no steamer from Onckunga this week. Tho Komata la expected to get away from Wellington to-morrow for Wcstport, where she will load coal for here. There were no shipping movements on the Woßt Coast yesterday, all vessels being barhound owing to the thick and heavy weather. Two instances of some exceptionally smart work aro noted in connection with tho loading of the American vessels Aurora and Wm. Bowden at Sydney. In the caso of the former, she loaded 1230 tons of copra in three working days and 750 tonß were put into the \Yilliam Bowden in 48 hour 3. When it is taken into consideration that this cargo had to be weighed and checked before being put into the ship, says an exchange, it reveals work of an exceptionally smart order, and is a very creditable performance for all concerned. Tho vessels concerned wero expected to get away last week, and an interc'sting race between the two may be expectd. The Consul-Goneral for tho Netherlands at Melbourne recently recoived a cable message stating that tho steamor BarcntßZ was to make a trip from Java ports to Australia this month under the flag of the Royal Dutch Packet Line. Ho has siuco been advised that the 6teamer Boggeuecn, which is a sister ship to the Barontsz, will como to Australia instead of the last-named vessel. ' Tho Pohorua, which has been undergoing repairs and survey at Port Chalmers, will bo recommissioncd to-day. She will then proceed to Dunedin to load general cargo for Wellington, and will sail to-morrow for the' northern port. The To Anau, which left Dunedin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, arrived at Lyttclton on Wednesday morning. After discharging, sho was to take' in a full load of produce for Auckland, whither sho was to sail direct yesterday. In the Commonwealth balance-sheet for the year ended June 30 last, the receipts include an item of .-61,000,000. "surplus earnings of the Commonwealth line of steamships." During the month of July 45 steamers, representing 26,089 tons, entered the port of Wcstport, and 48 steamers, representing 26.657 tons, loft tho port. Tho total tonnage for the month was 52,746. Following aro the particulars of tho export of coal for the month:—Wcstport Coal Company, 34.652 tons 13cwt. coal, 240 tons 15cwt. coke; Wcstport-Stockton Coal Company, 11,531 tons llcwt. coal; Coal Creek Mining Party, 462 tons lewt. coal; total, 45,887 tons. Of this amount 2330 tons wero shipned to foreign ports. During the month 108,330 super, feet of timber was exported.
