DYING BELIEF IN GERMAN INVINCIBILITY
LATIN-AMERICA IMPRESSED. • Now York, June 23. v Advices received here give a- unique indication of the dying belief in German invincibility in Latin-America. According to the information received, at'the time of previous German offensives every concern in South America stopped buying gocds from United Stoles merchants. Tha present offonsive, however, brought iro diminution in the number of orders placed with United States firms. The explanation given of this phenomenon is that previously Latin-Amen-oan fiirms felt that a German offensive moant a German victory, and consequently an early peace, upon German terms. Thoy have learned now, i.owever, that the'best a German offensive can offer is a postponement of an inevitable German defeat. They therefore db not place any hope in the possibility of ttrong competition between the United States and dermony in Latin-America, at any time in the near future, and are inclined to believe -that Germany is facing a defeat» which will cripple her export trade for years to come. .„.'
