The late Captain Gibb, who was over 70 years of ago, was born at Banff, north of Aberdeen, Scotland, and eerved in a number of vessels sailing out of British ports before he came out to the colonies. Hβ made several voyages between Wellington and China as master of the barquentine May, belonging to Messrs. W. and G. Tumbull and° Co., and then entered the employ of the late Captain W. B.
