EFFICIENCY CAMPAIGN
. MEETINGS COMMENCED TN WELLINGTON PROVINCE. , The New Zealand Alliance's "Prohibition' Campaign for National Efficiency" has been formally inaugurated in "Wellington Provinco. Meotings were held night at Greytown and Carterton, and were addressed by well-known Canadian authorities—Mr. W. D. Bayley, teacher of economics and history, Winnipeg; Mr. George Bell, M.P. for Victoria, British Columbia, and exMayor of Enderby; and Mr. James Simpson, of Toronto, vice-president of tho Canadian Trades and Labour Congress. Tho last-named 6poke at both meetings, Mr. Bayley being associated with mm 011 tho platform at Greytown, and Mr. Bell at Carterton., There wcijo largo and enthusiastic audiences. Tho campaign will be continued each night this week. At tho Palace Theatre at Petone to-morrow (Wednesday) at 3 p.m., all three campaigners will" deliver addresses; tho Mayor of Petone will preside. On Thursday night. a "monster gathering" is expected nt Ihe Town Hall, Tho .Mayor (Air. ,T. I'. Luke, C.M.G., M.P.5, will extend a welcome to the Canadians, and Ihe subject of llieir addresses will be, "Canada: Ftow Wo Won Prohibition and How ft Works." The Rev. R. S. Gray, of Dunediu. who is acting ns the Alliance's campaign organiser, will preside, and spenk on "Why Wo Support the National Efficiency Board's Proposals." Mr. Temple White will give an organ repital between 7.:)0 and f! p.m. At tho Mnsterton Opera Tfouso on Friday evening Mr. Bayley will be supported by the Rev. ,T. Dawson, secretary of the Alliancc.
