HEAVY PRESSURE ON GERMAN FRONT
RETIREMENT ON MONTBIDIER SECTOR
FLANKS TURNED BETWEEN REUS AND SOISSONS
"GLOIIOUS MARCH" CONTINUES ■
AMERICA'S "BAG" OF PRISONERS
After a. "glorious march," to quote from the French official report, tho Allies havo reached tho Vesle at several points, and light troops have gained the north bank. Fiames ha 6 been captured, as well as other points of resistance. The enemy's flanks between Soissons and Reims are stated to have been turned. In the Montdidier region the Germans have been forced lo retire on ten miles of front. It is thought that tho enemy will not attempt a serious resistance on tho Vesle, but will contest tho Aisne heights, and even may make his stand on tho Chemin des Dames. The policy of nibbling raids by tho British has had a cumulative effect on the enemy on the Aisne. Hero he has been obliged to give np valuable offensive ground. The battle is described as a triumph of manoeuvre. There is very little to report from tho other theatres of the war.
