Ihe twenty-eighth annual report of the Neiv Zealand .Academy of I'lne Arts shows the membership to be two life, 230 subscribing, and SO arlist members. During the year the society lost through death the services of three members— the Hon. Sir Chmrles Johnston, M.L.C., lir. O. Y. Fell, and Mr. A. j). Turnbull. At the annual exhibition of works, SO were disposed of, of a total value of JISI 10>. Tim council acknowledges with thanks the receipt of a further airant of cEICU from the T. 'ilw work of Hie Academy Studio in affording an opportunity to those who ha?s completed their course at the art schools to continue their studies and meet together, is eulogised; the results havo been wholly lißueiicial to the students educationally. The financial position of the society shows an improvement, tho hank overdraft haying been considerably reduced. It is hoped to have the liability incurred by recent building operations cleared off by the end of June next year. In accordance with the articles of association, one vice-president (Mr. TI. F. von ITaast), the hou. treasurer (lir. H. Bastings), four members of the council (Messrs. A. T. Bate and W.-A. Bowing, Mrs. Hannah, and Miss D. IC. Eichmond), and the auditor (Mr. C. ;i D. Morpelh), retire from office. All are eligible for re-elec-tion.
