Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their weekly sale at Levin on July 39, when they offered to a good t attendance of the public, a heavy yarding of sheep and a medium one of cattle. The tone of the market was considerably better than the two previous sales, and mostly all lines offered were disposed of at satisfactory rates, principal sales being as under ;-Sheep: McdhunTvoight fat ewc6, 30s. sd.j empty ewoa. 17s. zd.; good two-tooth ewes in lamb to Bomney rams, 325. 3d. to 345.; fat and forward ewes, 255. lOd; Cattle: Good colour Shorthorn weaner Hteers. £6 75.; small Shorthorn iveancrs (bad colours), £3 to £3 195,; good Shorthorn wcaner heifers, £4 155.; bad colour Shorthorn weancr heifers. £3. They also offered a fair number of dairy stock, for which extreme rates wefrc paid, two-year lieiferß in calf bringing £11 155., and dairy cows. August-September calvers, from £12 to £17 10s. At their Otaki sale on Wednesday Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, ronort having offered a heavy yardimr of sheep and a medium one of cattle. Competition was brisk, and some really Rood lines of sheep came forward. These' were disposed of at. late rilling rates. A line of 250"twotooth to four-year-old cites in lamb, offered on account of Mrs. J. IT. Bacchus, brought from 31e. 9d. to 335. 6d. A small pen of extra sperial fat. hoggets on account of the Stock, estate made 38s. Cn account of same vendors, ewes in lamb, up to 40s. On 'account of other vendors, medium shorn hoggets, 18s. to 18s. 10d.; and two-tooth wethers. 325.; fat ewes, to 28s. 2(1. Cattle; A nice line of twelve two-year heifers offered on account of K. P. Dlair made £12; empty heifers, £5 10s. to £-5 145.; SDriniring lieifers at drop, £10 7s. 6d. to £12 15s. HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. The fortnightly snles of hides and tallow were held yesterday by the various brokers. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report that they offered a fair catalogue, comprising mostly light-weight hides. Prices for heavy cow and ox were on about a par with last Bale ratca. Lightweight cows were in better demand, and prices for these advanced from id. to 3d. per lb. Inferior sorts were eagerly competed for &t late rates. There was very keen competition for calfskins, the better sorts making n sharp advaneo, the rise being fully from Id. to lid. per lb. The firm brought forward a. small offering of tallow; prices appreciated from 6d. to Is. per cwt. Messrs. and Co.. Ltd.. report that as compared with the sale a fortnight ago prices for heavy-weight ox hides showed a decline of Jd. per lb., while cows and yearlings sold readily at an advance of 3d. per lb. Inferior and damagod maintained last sale's rates. Calfskins were in keen demand at prices ranging from 13<1. to 2d. per lb. above last sale rulings. As compared with last sale the duality of tallow showed a falling off, and prices declined in conscquencc. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., in which is incorporated the United Farmers' Co-operative Association, report that there was not a largo attendance of buyers. Prices for ox hides were below those at last sale. Cow hides and calfskins ruled Bomewhat better, two lines of the latter being submitted by t.liu firm realising 17d. per lb. There was poor competition for tallow, many lines being passed in. Messrs. Murray, lloberts. and Co. report that they offered a catalogue of about 600 hides and caliskinß, besides oddments of tallow. 'Prices for tallow were easier, the top figure offered for casks being 35b. 6d. per cwt. Hides were somewhat erratic, heavy ox being 3d. per lb., and light ox jd. per lb. lower; while cow hides showed an advance of fully Jd. per lb., calf advancing up to 2d. per lb., with keen competition. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., ,

report:—w> offered a largo catalogue of tallow and only a moderato catalogue of hides. There was only a small attendance- of buyers, and bidding was slack on tallow, prices going down siboiiL n. 6d. per cwt. On hidce the bidding was very keen, excepting for ox hides, thoee being Affected by the absence, of Home of tno tanners. Sound ox showed a. decline of M. for heavies, 3d. for medium, and Ad. for light-weights. Cows wore very keenly competed for, at prices about id. above last sale ratcß, with the ciception of hcavios, which wero on a par. New seasons' orders were apparently in for calfskins, and in consequence 'prices advanced all round, from 13d. to 2}d.. The Farmers' Co-op. Distributing Co. report a fair entry of hides and tallow.
