WOOL COMMANDEER
DISTRIBUTION OF PROFITS
A NEW SUGGESTION Tho Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies (tho Hon. D. H. Guthrie) met tho Dominion Wool Committee yesterday to giro consideration to suggestions that had been received from tho imperial authorities, through tin; Prime Minister (Mr. Mnssey) as to-Hie basis of culcitktion of profits that may ucmio from tho sale of next season's New Zealand wool in England. The propos.il is that tho half-profits ehnre should bo calculated us for Australia and New Zealand combined, and the division of the total made on a pro rula basis. Tho effect of tho scheme ought to bo that moro piofits will come to New Zealand, because at present New Zonlund wool, being mostly crossbred, is almost entirely used for Army work, whereas tho finer merino wool of Australia is not. Tho Auslrnliun wool is sold to manufacturers;. After a full discussion of tho question it waa resolved that owing to thenr/senro of definite information regardimr Iho nirlaiißeinents niiido with Australia- and other wool-exporting dominions the mattor, should be left in the hands of Iho Prime Minister (Mr. Massoy) to deal with in such manner as would best conservo the. interests of the waul preduews of New Zealand. This decision was-duly cabled by Mr. Gulhrio to Mr. iMiwsey in London. The members of the (.■ommittee, Messrs. 0. du V. Tescheinakoi'-Sluitj, W. D. Lysliiir, Woi'rsp, G. V. I'earM', Gould, suid AV. U. H'ftut, wore all present at .this luenting. ■ ' .
