MEETING- OF TEE COMMITTEE. K

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Ruj'oy I'nion was held last evening in the i'.M.C.A. looms. Mr. D. D. Weir presided. It ivas decided to take no further action -with reference to the matter of J. Ward inadvertently playing over age in the fifth class team of the Oriental Club.

Dr. Newman, in reply to the congratulations of the union on the success of his son at the front, wrote: "When staying with General Poissell in France, ono of his staff, Colonel L'iverey (Irish International) told me that football was the finest of all games to teach soldiering, obedience, combination playing as a team, resolution, pluck, quick decision, etc.' Now Zealand footballers havo done particularly well in battle, and are very quick to learn all points of fighting, and make excellent non-commissioned officers."
