Tho Conciliation Council was occupiod to-day with the hearing of a dispute between tho Federated Boot Trade Work-.-ers and tho eiuployei'3, a Dominion award being sought. At tho outset the Commissioner raised tho' question whether the dispute had been properly filed and the council properly constituted iu consequence of tho associated unions not having taken a ballot of their individual members, The assessors replied that tho dispute was between, two associations, iu which associations were unite. It was agreed lo accept the condition i nnd to constitute tho council proceedings as being properly formulated. No agreement was roached on the proposals and counter-proposals, and the council adjourned until to-morrow to consider a suggestion made by the Cominissioner covering all the points in dispute.
